2. Why Colour? And when should I upgrade to colour?
The big question on everybody’s lips is “colour”.
We have to do everything in colour, our customers expect it!”, I hear you say. Yes, we would love to sell you a colour copier… but lets be honest not everyone needs colour or wants it!
I would recommend that you need to check what your core business is? Is it producing flyers, information, manuals etc etc where colour is really a necessity, or is it just a nice to have. For some, a small laser printer is the answer, for some an inkjet (although, please be aware of the running costs associated with inkjet!)
My advice to you all is to look at the total cost of ownership, the amount of colour printing that you do, and the reason behind colour.
Feel free to call me to discuss this as you would be surprised how the total costs add up and ends up being more cost effective than laser or inkjet printers.

If you are currently spending around $250—$300 per month on colour consumables , please call me to look further into your requirements. There could be a better solution at the same or cheaper than what you are currently spending. I think you’ll be surprised.
Please call 06 356 2330 or email me on dan.griffiths@symonbusiness.co.nz

3. Should I connect my photocopier to my computer?
The big question for a lot of businesses is when should I get rid of my trusty printer and look at connecting my copier ...
After all, aren’t copiers supposed to be cheaper to run?
Well the answer is yes they are BUT… it all boils down to print/copy volume and how much your organisation spends on consumables.
There are some of you who like to have the convenience of a printer on your desk, or need it for security reasons .. And that is not going to change. What I would suggest is that you monitor volumes and should you be printing around 1500 pages per month or more then it could be a good idea to review your printing equipment. A photocopier can also offer duplex printing, A3, booklet, and watermark printing options when connected to your PC.
You would be surprised to learn that most businesses do not know or have never thought about how much their printers are costing them.
Generally an inkjet printing in black will cost conservatively about 8 cents per page and a laser printer in black anywhere between 3.5 cents upwards depending on coverage.
The huge benefit of connecting your copier is that it is a fixed price per page, there are more options with a copier and you can plan or at least have peace of mind about how much it may cost for your printing.
If you would like to discuss this further please free to call me anytime on 06 356 2330 and I would be more than happy to come out to your premises and discuss with you the possibility of any savings.

4. Sometimes when I copy on our new digital copier, I get a black line running down the page, What is it and why does it happen?
This is caused by a small dust particle, or twink or something similar on the small glass area beneath the document feeder. It is caused when you copy only through the document feeder and the scanner sees the paper moving past, and senses the mark on the glass and tries to copy it. Because the paper moves the length of the page through the feeder, the scanner then keeps printing it. So all you have to do, is wipe the glass clean using a clean cloth, a newspaper or glass cleaner sprayed onto a rag and wipe it clean.

5. Sometimes, when I print, I select a certain cassette and my print job doesn’t come out of the right cassette, and I end up getting the wrong paper with my printing on it?
This sometimes happens, especially when you change your printer or when you change your photocopier. It happens because when you create a document and print it out, say on a copier, the print settings get imbedded in the document. So when you change your printer or copier, it remembers the older setting not the new one. All you have to do, is go into page set up in the document and select Auto paper select on the whole document and it will allow the driver (print) to select the correct cassette.

I would just like to personally thank you for your ongoing support in the last 12 months or so. We are humbled that you choose us to deal with and we really do appreciate your business.
